Umbra Base — Caucasian ash table

The “Umbra” table comes in two versions: one tabletop of thermally modified Caucasian ash is combined with two different metal bases. The result is two tables completely different in architecture and character. “Umbra Base” is the more monumental version with a massive base that gives the structure weight, stability and expressiveness.

We present the thermally modified Caucasian ash slab table “Umbra Base” with a massive architectural base. The thin 36 mm tabletop seems to rest on two powerful metal planes — the contrast of proportions makes the table expressive and solid.

A black strip of epoxy resin poured into a natural crack emphasizes the natural shape of the wood. On the end face it forms a deep accent that echoes the massive geometry of the base.

Thermal modification enhances the shade and texture of the solid wood and makes it more stable and less sensitive to changes in humidity.

Caucasian ash has a high density and is almost twice as strong as Far Eastern ash. Despite its small thickness, the tabletop looks solid and confident.

“Umbra Base” can be used as a large dining table, an executive desk or a meeting room table. It will also suit a design office, showroom, country house, intimate restaurant or any other space where furniture should become part of the interior architecture.
