Japanese cryptomeria table “Sugi. Rings of Time”
A unique handmade piece by our master craftsman Shaman.
Wood in which time has become form.
“Sugi. Rings of Time” is a compact sculptural table made of solid Japanese cryptomeria.
Its tabletop and base are assembled into a single expressive silhouette, where the natural wood pattern becomes the main decorative element.
Sugi is Japanese cryptomeria, the national tree of Japan. In Japan it was used to build temples and religious structures.
The wood is light, warm in tone, has a soft natural fragrance and stands out for its expressive pattern of growth rings.
The round tabletop, 560 mm in diameter, retains the natural shape and live edge of the wood. The tiered base consists of separate volumetric elements assembled on a steel pin, each with different curves, shades and grain directions. Thanks to this, the table resembles a small wooden sculpture created by nature and assembled by the master.
Its compact size allows it to be used as an accent table next to an armchair, a sofa or in a lounge area. It remains a functional piece while also becoming a centerpiece of the interior in its own right.
The surface is finished with hardwax oil. The finish emphasizes the color, texture and growth rings of the wood while preserving its natural tactile character.
