Tall Himalayan cedar table “Writer”
A Himalayan cedar grown in Sochi has been given a second life in this massive writing desk.
Himalayan cedar, or deodar, is a coniferous species with a characteristic resinous fragrance and an expressive longitudinal grain pattern. Its wood combines warm natural shades, soft color transitions and a lively texture that shows at its best on large solid surfaces.
The tabletop surface is brushed: the soft fibers of the wood have been removed, making the relief deeper and the pattern more expressive.
The wood was thermally modified in a vacuum drying chamber. This process helped stabilize the solid wood, deepen its natural shade and emphasize the grain pattern. The tabletop was then treated with a deep dark stain that kept the natural structure of the wood visible.
The live edge preserves the natural contour of the wood and sets the piece apart from mass-produced furniture.
The table is finished with hardwax oil.
The tall solid Himalayan cedar writing desk “Writer” is made for a study, a library or a spacious workspace. It gives the interior a calm, focused mood — the kind in which you want to write, think, read and stay in silence for a long time.
The tabletop height of 830 mm is especially comfortable for tall people. If needed, we will lower it to the standard 750 mm free of charge.
