A burl is an outgrowth on the trunk where the fibres grow in every direction. The cut reveals swirls, rings and small dark 'eyes' against a creamy golden background.

Poplar itself is soft and burls are irregular, so we stabilise them in our vacuum chamber. This makes the material stronger and more stable.

We use poplar burl in epoxy tabletops, decor, boxes and small objects. No two cuts are alike.
