The wood is a light yellowish brown with olive, reddish and grey streaks. A fresh cut smells strongly of camphor; the scent softens over time but stays.
Camphor laurel is medium-hard and machines and sands well. The natural oils in the wood deter insects.
We make tables, tabletops, boxes and decor from it. The tree grows in Sochi, but large trunks don't come our way often.
